Q. How long is the hire period?
A. Typically, the hire period is 4 hours long. A full day hire is usually 9am – 5pm. However, we are flexible on this. Let us know your requirements.
Q. Do you deliver the bouncy castles?
A. Yes, we deliver the castles, set them up and pick them up after the 4 hour hire period. If you live outside the greater Auckland area, let us know and we will be happy to let you know if there is any delivery cost.
Q. Can we have the castle overnight?
A. Unfortunately we do not leave the castles out overnight. Our last pick-up time varies throughout the year, depending on how much daylight we have. As a guide, we want to pick the castles up before it gets dark.
Q. How much room do I need to have?
A. Apart from the castle itself, we need an extra metre’s clearance around the castle. For example, if a castle is 4m x 4m, we will need an area of 5m x 5m. We also need to make sure the top of the castle is not able to come in contact with any objects (like overhanging trees or powerlines). We have the dimensions of all castles listed on the website.
Q. Do you stay and supervise the castles?
A. We generally don't provide supervision. We have opted not to do this so we can keep our prices low. For us to provide supervision would require us to hire someone, which will increase the hire out rates of all of our castles. However, this can be negotiated for your large event, just give us a call to discuss your needs.
Q. I have just booked a castle.... What happens now?
A. If you have made the booking, you just have to wait for the hire day to come around. We will call you either on the day of the hire, or on the night before the hire. This call is to touch base with you, and to arrange a drop off time.
Q. Who sets up the castle?
A. Bouncy Fun staff members will do all the setting up and packing up.
Q. Does the castle have to be set up on grass?
A. The castle does not have to be set up on grass however we need to know if it is going to be on a different surface. We charge an additional fee for hard surface set ups.
Q. Does somebody need to supervise when the castle is being used?
A. Yes. When the castle is delivered, safety instructions will be explained to an adult who agrees to be responsible for the supervision of children jumping on the castle.
Q. What happens if it rains?
A. We do not deliver the castles in the rain. The castles come with a blower, which must be kept on at all times. Electricity and water don't mix well, so as a rule we don't have the castles operating in the rain. If you think it might rain during your hire period, you have the option to cancel the hire when we call you. We do not charge you for cancelled hires under these conditions.
Q. Can the castles operate on windy days?
A. Yes they can, however our strong winds can be a bit too much for some of the castles. This will also depend on the location of your booking and surface set up area. We have been forced to cancel some hires, but this is very rare. Some parents might get a bit upset at this, but it is better than having a castle tip over while their kids are playing on it.
Q. Do I have to pay a bond or deposit?
A. No, we don't operate a bond or deposit system, unless your booking is over $450.00 then we require 10% deposit to secure your castle/add ons. This is only applicable during peak seasons. However, we do ask for payment on delivery of the castle.
Q. How do I pay?
A. A cash payment is required on delivery and set up of the bouncy castle.
Q. How long does it take to set up and pack up the castles?
A. Once we have reached the set-up area, it takes about 30 minutes to get the castle set up and up to about half an hour to deflate and pack up the castle. Set up and deflation occur before and after your booking time commences and finishes and does not count as part of your hire time.
Q. Does the castle have to go up on grass?
A. No it doesn't. We do have to anchor the castle down, and the easiest way is to peg it down into your lawn. So if the castle is to go up on your driveway, or on concrete etc, we need to know in advance. We can bring some padded concrete blocks for surfaces that aren't lawn. Under no circumstances will we put the castle up on stones (shingle driveways etc).
Q. How is the bouncy castle powered?
A. It runs off electricity and we use the power points at your house. We will need a power point to be within 25m of where the castle is to be set up. We provide a 25m extension lead. Should the hire be for an area without power points we can hire you a generator at an additional cost. You may provide your own generator but it must be at least 5kva.
Q. What if there are steps that lead to the set-up area?
A. Depending on how many steps and which bouncy castle you have hired, we may need a hand getting the castle up steps. In most cases, we are able to handle it ourselves, but please let us know if you have steps just in case.
Q. Will you set up if there are animals on the property?
A. We ask that all animals, in particular, dogs are secured when we arrive on you property and the set up area is clear of any animal droppings.
Q. Are the bouncy castles clean?
A. The bouncy castles are cleaned before and after every use. We pride ourselves on great products that are always clean. We inspect them after they are inflated just to make sure.
Q. Can the castle fit indoors?
A. Yes and no. They are around 4 to 4.5m high, so they will fit into the local school hall, and basketball court - but they won't fit into the average house.
Q. How big are the bouncy castles? Are there any special requirements for hiring one?
A. Our bouncy castles are 4m x 4m in size. You must have a space available that will not risk contact with Sharp objects powerlines or trees. The bouncy castle runs on an electric blower, so we'll need to have access to an electrical socket to plug in our blower.
Q. What if I need to contact you once the hire has already begun?
A. We are contactable by mobile phone throughout the day. We do not anticipate that you would need to contact us for anything but we are only a phone call away if you need us.
